Fairytale Theater Camp

Grades: 1 - 3

Dates: Spring Break, March 10-14

Meeting Times: Monday - Friday, 10 am - 4 pm

Location: Art 317, UAF Campus

Cost: $350

Description: Campers will learn the skills needed to be compelling performers and storytellers and gain confidence speaking in front of a crowd. We will explore all aspects of theater, including acting, set design, and costume design. Campers will learn valuable teamwork, communication, and public speaking skills that can help them in all parts of their lives, as well as theater-specific knowledge like warm-ups, terminology, and the best practices followed today by professional actors and thespians. Campers will perform fairytale-based stories they wrote and designed themselves for their families at the end of the week.

Instructor: Charlotte Gray

A bit about your instructor: Charlotte Gray is a lifelong thespian who has been singing and acting in Fairbanks since moving here in 2021. Before moving to Fairbanks, she studied theater, singing, and dance while attending Middlebury College. Charlotte is a lifelong performer and a passionate educator, having worked with all ages, from children's theatre to big-brother-big-sister organizations. She even worked as a theater educator at an American-style summer camp in Shanghai, China. Her extended experience in both performance and working with children will be put to good use with UAF's Spring Break Camps.

Instructor: Draven Gonzales

A bit about your instructor: Draven is a current UAF student studying Linguistics, Early Childhood Education, and the beginnings of Pediatric Speech Language Pathology with UAA. Previously, she studied Theatre at Troy University in Alabama and worked the summer camp intensive for children in the Troy area. She has worked in child education settings since her teenage years. Brought to Fairbanks for her husband to serve at Fort Wainwright, Draven has loved being a part of the Fairbanks community and is incredibly excited about this opportunity.
