Introduction to Ceramics

Time: Thursdays, 4 pm - 6 pm

Location: Raven City Clay Studio, 1490 Dolly Varden Lane

Description: Join the Creative Team at Raven City Studios for a six-week clay class. Students will learn the basics of hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. Learn to wedge, center, slip & score! Explore textures, glazing, and so much more. By the end of the session, participants will have up to ten finished pieces.

Instructor: Laura Ransom

A bit about your instructor: Laura Ranson is a pottery teacher and artist from Alabama. She took her first pottery class in her hometown, Montevallo, Alabama, in 1991. Laura taught ceramics in Montgomery, Alabama for three years at a local community center. After a 20-plus-year career in higher education administration, she was able to shift her career to ceramics full-time. She moved to Fairbanks in 2001 and joined the Raven City Studio team that year.
